Top 10 Questions

Q1.What is a Notary Public in Thailand?

Thailand has no civil-law notary. The equivalent role is the Notarial Services Attorney — a licensed Thai lawyer who has completed the Lawyers Council of Thailand notarial course and holds a separate notarial registration number. They witness signatures, certify true copies, administer oaths and affirmations, and attest facts they personally observe. They do not certify that the content of a document is true.

Q2.Does Thailand have a Notary Public system?

Not in the US or UK sense. Instead, the Lawyers Council of Thailand registers attorneys to perform notarial acts, and their certificates are accepted domestically and, once legalized, abroad. Because the title differs, always ask for the attorney's notarial registration number so a foreign authority can verify the signature later.

Q3.What is a Notarial Services Attorney in Thailand?

It is the official title for a Thai lawyer authorised to perform notarial acts after completing the Lawyers Council training and registering with it. The certificate they issue names the attorney, their bar licence number, their notarial registration number, the date, and the exact act performed. Foreign authorities routinely accept it once the Department of Consular Affairs authenticates the signature.

Q4.How much does a Notary Public cost in Thailand?

Typical attorney-level fees run about THB 500–1,500 per document set, depending on document type, page count, urgency, and whether the attorney travels to you. Government layers are separate: consular authentication and destination-embassy fees are charged per document by those authorities. Ask for a full route quote, not just the first layer, so the budget matches reality.

Q5.Is notary service in Thailand charged per document or per page?

Pricing is normally per notarial act on one document set, not per page. Long annexes that must each be stamped, or multiple originals of the same document, add cost. Bundling documents destined for the same authority into a single appointment is the practical way to reduce total spend.

Q6.How do I get a document notarized in Bangkok?

Send the draft for review, book an appointment near your office (Sukhumvit, Asok, Silom, Sathorn and Ratchada are the usual choices), bring the original document unsigned plus your passport or Thai ID, and sign in front of the attorney. If the document is going abroad, we then file it at the Department of Consular Affairs in Chaeng Wattana and, where required, at the destination embassy.

Q7.Where can I find an English-speaking Notary Public in Phuket?

English-language notarial work is routine in Phuket because most clients are foreign buyers, yacht owners, and long-stay residents. Confirm before booking that the attorney issues the certificate in English and can explain the deed to a non-Thai signer. Weekend and evening appointments are usually possible for the attorney layer; government layers remain weekday-only.

Q8.Are there reliable Notary Public services in Khon Kaen?

Yes, but the pool of registered notarial attorneys upcountry is much smaller than in Bangkok, so book ahead and verify the registration number. A common working pattern is to notarise locally, then have the Bangkok team file the consular and embassy layers so you do not travel.

Q9.How to find a Notary Public for translation and legal services in Udon Thani?

Look for a firm that pairs a registered notarial attorney with a translation team whose format the Department of Consular Affairs accepts — mismatched translation formatting is the single most common rejection cause. Udon Thani work is dominated by spouse, pension, and Australian or US filings, so ask whether the office has handled your destination before.

Q10.What documents are required for notarization in Thailand?

At minimum: the original document (unsigned if a signature is being witnessed), the signer's original passport or Thai ID, and confirmation of the destination country and receiving authority. Company signings additionally need a company affidavit issued within six months and evidence of signing authority. Telling us the destination up front matters, because it dictates the wording of the certificate.
