Why an EU Sworn Translation Cannot Be Done in Thailand

A 'certified translation' issued by a Thai translator — even one accredited by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs — has no legal status in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, or Austria. These civil-law jurisdictions require the translation to be produced and stamped by a translator who has taken an oath before a specific court in that country.

The correct chain runs in reverse: your Thai document is first authenticated (MFA + apostille from 2026), then shipped to a translator on the destination country's official court list, who produces the sworn translation locally. We manage the entire chain from Phuket including the international courier legs.

How the 2026 Apostille Changes This Service

Once Thailand's Hague Apostille accession takes effect (H2 2026), the embassy legalization step disappears for all 8 of these EU countries, cutting 5-10 days from every job. Sworn translation remains required — apostille authenticates the Thai document, but the translation itself must still come from a court-registered translator in the destination country.
