Conditions you must meet
- File the renewal before the permit expires; working after expiry counts as unlicensed work.
- On termination, the law sets notification deadlines and a window to find a new employer before permission to stay is affected.
- Changes of position or workplace must be notified to the registrar.
Documents to prepare
- The existing work-permit book or digital permit.
- Current employer records (financial statements, tax filings, social-security list).
- A new employment letter when changing employer.
Process
- Collect the documents and file at the provincial employment office or online.
- Once approved, file TM.7 so your permission to stay matches.
- Renew the re-entry permit if you need to travel.
Common pitfalls
- Waiting until the last days when employer records are not ready.
- Resigning without notifying in time, which affects both the permit and the stay.
