BOI-Promoted Company
Investors in activity categories eligible for promotion by the Board of Investment, such as manufacturing, digital, R&D and high value-added services.
Filing sequence at a glance
Check the promoted-activity list → apply through the e-Investment Promotion system → present the project → receive the promotion certificate → use the privileges via the One Stop Service Centre for Visas and Work Permits.
Conditions to meet
- The activity must appear in the promoted-activity list under the BOI announcement currently in force.
- Minimum investment is generally THB 1 million excluding land and working capital, unless the activity specifies otherwise.
- Debt-to-equity ratio and production/service process must meet the published conditions.
- Non-tax privileges — 100% foreign ownership, land ownership for the project, and bringing in skilled personnel — follow the conditions in the promotion certificate.
Documents to prepare
- Application with project details, capacity and the production/service process.
- Investment estimates, funding sources and cash-flow projections.
- Corporate documents of the applicant, or the incorporation plan if not yet registered.
- Technology/machinery documentation and the Thai and foreign staffing plan.
Step-by-step process
- Confirm the activity category and the privileges relevant to the project.
- File the promotion application through the BOI online system.
- Attend the project presentation meeting as scheduled.
- On notification, accept the resolution and apply for the promotion certificate within the deadline.
- Use visa and work permit privileges through e-Expert and the One Stop Service Centre.
Common mistakes
- Applying when the business scope does not match a promoted category.
- Missing the deadline to accept the resolution or collect the certificate, so the entitlement lapses.
- Importing machinery or raw materials before privileges are approved, losing the duty exemption.
- Failing to file the performance reports required by the certificate conditions.
